Of course you can also find private websites of portrait painters, but there are also websites that put together in one place many portrait painters, so that if you look for one you can find many portrait painters to choose from.
Websites that put together portrait painters are not only useful for those who look for portrait painters but also do a great service for the portrait painters themselves. Such websites take away all the marketing and advertising effort and leave the painter with his painting work only. Apparently there is more competition, because there are several portrait painters together, but in reality, this competition is there anyway, whether the portrait painters represent themselves by using individual website or they represent themselves together in one place. The fact they appear together only saves them the hassle of advertising themselves. I also believe there’s enough work for everyone, and if you’re talented and put yourself into it, you can definitely find work.

Now let’s go to the third possibility – you want to become a portrait painter. Well that is not easy, and depends on your talent, skill, and artistic education. First you have to choose which technique you would like to use for your portrait painting and become expert with this technique. Then you have to start practicing. Practice by using photos and painting from the photos; that will give you a lot of time to practice. Practice until you’re satisfied with your results – don’t put yourself down, but also don’t compromise.
Many portrait painters remain at the point of painting from photos, and if you want to use the internet as a medium for marketing yourself as portrait artist, that may be the best way to do it. In this way people can send you a photo and you can paint from it. Painting a live portrait requires more expertise, because unlike painting from photo you have to turn the 3D person into two dimensional painting. Many portrait painters still do
it, but in this way you can only work locally.
I’ve always wanted to become portrait painter. I tried to paint portraits of almost all my family members, but I defenitely don’t have the skills. Do you think that it’s a skill that can be learnt or is it a talent that one either have it or not?
If there is anyway to learn how to paint portraits I would love to learn. I think painting people turn them eternal in a certain way.

thank you for asking your questions. Regarding painting being an inborn talent or a skill that can be learnt. My personal conviction is that painting and drawing is basically a skill that can be acquired. Creativity is not something that can be taught, although I believe that to some extent, creative thinking can also be acquired. A natural talent in any field of life is just something that makes life easier when aspiring to develop that particular field in life, but I don’t believe that the fact that some people have a natural talent should prevent others to acquire such talent.
